Good Search

During my recent searches for grants for non-profits, I have been re-reminded of Good Search. It is a search engine that allows the non-profit of your choice to earn money for each search. Every time you search the internet with the search engine or make an online purchase at one of their partnering merchants, Good Search will make a donation to your favorite non-profit!

Motivational Speakers

I recently met with Tony Scelzo, Jim Brown, and Josh Mitchell. Tony suggested that I listen to Tony Robbins, Lessons in Mastery. So I went on YouTube because I've listened to Tony R on the site before, and wanted to see if Lessons in Mastery was what I had listened to... After finding Tony's videos, I then did a search for "Motivational Speakers". Thought I'd share the motivational speaker that you should probably avoid.....

Resilience

Writing on a personal note today-

I have developed a friendship with a very great man over the last 8 months or so. He is a man that is 4 years younger than me, but yet, a man that I look up to very much. Last night after a business conference call, a conference call that consisted of this man and my team -a call that included a statement made by him that generated instant, and beautiful credibility and respect from my team- he and I followed up with an IM conversation.

I began the conversation by thanking him for what he said about me... I can't quote him verbatim, but in short he said that he didn't have to be sold by my team of developers, and their talent. He said that he trusts me and that if I am in it, that that is all he needs to move forward with the deal at hand. Someone that I have looked up to for 8 months now feels the same way about me? Wow!

So after I finished thanking him, and reiterating that I feel the same about him, he shared with me what I do for him. He then proceeds to tell me that seeing my resilience is what keeps him going everyday. My resilience? I thought that I knew what resilience meant, but I looked it up to be sure. Wow again. I got chills after reading the definition of exactly what it meant. Someone sees in me what I experience everyday? Here are the definitions:

1 : the capability of a strained body to recover its size and shape after deformation caused especially by compressive stress
2 : an ability to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change

I am very lucky to have him as a friend. Everyone of my friends, to this date, have made me feel something great at some point, but this just tops all. So thank you Jim, for recognizing a strength of mine that I have never been able to put a label on. And thank you for all that you have helped me with; business advice, personal advice, locating Hannah Montana tickets.. :) You are one of a kind!

Friends are so very important, and when you find one that you know you were meant to find, make sure you hang onto them. You never know when you will touch someone the way I was touched last night.

Analytics Fun!

For those that aren't aware of the amount of data that one can receive from Google Analytics (I'm beginning to sound like a Google sales person.. :)); I was checking out my account this morning for my blog, and here's an example of what can be seen:

I have a visitor from the network within Methodist Hospital that has looked at my site twice on February 4, once each on February 8, 12, and 13. The average time that they spent on the site was 1 minute and 10 seconds, and they visited an average of 2.33 pages per visit!

I think that due to some editing that I have done to my site, I lost my Analytics code , and have replaced it this morning, but there seems to be a pattern of this person checking out my blog. It's pretty cool to be able to see who is "stalking" me(or just reading my blog..)! How flattering! Now if it could only be narrowed down to the exact user!

Google Applications

My license for the Microsoft suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint expired a couple months ago. Being an entrepreneur, I don't have the largest budget in the world. Instead of spending the $300-$600 for a new license, I decided to find other options for my business needs.

I kept hearing a lot about Google this and Google that... so I figured there was something to the hullabaloo. I started slow. It all started with Google Analytics.
Next was Gtalk. Then I progressed, with quite a bit of resistance to Gmail, taking the place of Outlook. Then to Google Docs, which have replaced my need for Power Point, Excel, and Word. Very importantly Google Calendar. This calendar allows you to view, with permission, other peoples calendars... for instance, if you have the need to coordinate meetings with others on your team, you can have them grant you access to their calendar, and it puts their schedule on your calendar along with your appointments!

I blog using Googles Blogger. I have added the live chat/help to my blog so you can see when I am available to chat... Since I have recently purchased my Moto Q, I have learned that Google offers mobile device applications.

If you are looking for ways to streamline your business, or even personal processes, give these applications a shot. They are free, and very easy to use. I hope this information helps! If so, let me know!
