I got up this morning knowing that I have a meeting with Patric Welch. We are going to meet at Panera Bread, which has free wi-fi, and I thought I'd multitask, and stay for a while after our meeting and do a bit of work... That reminded me of my laptop and the bag that I have to transport it.
I got the bag as a gift for volunteering to help run a blood drive while I was still an employee of the Department of Workforce Development for the State of Indiana. It's just the normal black, lackluster bag that many carry.
I'm feeling a bit adventurous today, and would really like to have a stylish bright colored bag to carry with me. So, I Googled laptop bags, and came up with some pretty awesome bags. Now the hard part is choosing which one I will purchase!

$40 Coupon to Watch TV in 2009
I just read an article in the Indy Star about this, and thought it was a pretty useful piece of info:
On Friday, February 15th, the Federal Government stated that it is going to begin sending out coupons to US households for $40 each, assisting in the purchase of boxes that will convert analog TV sets, allowing them to receive the digital-only signals that will be transmitted beginning in February, 2009. So, if you don't subscribe to cable or satellite, you won't be watching television unless you purchase one of these converters that run between $40 and $70.
The upside to this is that the Gov't is providing financial assistance for the switch. The downside is that it is a mandatory purchase if you like-a-the TV...
The Star provided a website to apply for the coupon, but I am unable to get to the site for some reason. Here's the link. You can also call 1-888-DTV-2009. Be sure to use your coupon within 90 days of receiving it, because if you don't, it will expire.

Flock-The Social Web Browser
I just learned of a new web browser as a result of thread that I started on Smaller Indiana. It is called Flock. I am still exploring all it has to offer, but it has implemented a concept that I was just wishing for-to be able to access several social networking sites, and not have to log in to each one individually. Wow. I am impressed! I suggest checking it out, especially if you have more than one blog or social networking profile. The sites that you are able to affect from this browser are; Facebook, Twitter, flickr, photobucket, YouTube, Blogger, Blogsome, LiveJournal, WordPress, Xanga.com, del.icio.us, ma.gnolia, TypePad, and Piczo.

Website Update
I was chosen, amongst 3 others, for a makeover. Each person was assigned a professional copywriter to meet with and go over how they could help make our sites better. We were assigned a lovely young woman by the name of Theresia Whitfield. She is the owner of Fletcher Communications. We met for about an hour and a half, and received some pretty helpful information. One thing that we already knew was that our site definitely did not represent our company properly-or at all, for that matter.
Since Squish began as a web design company, and we have not updated our site for quite some time, no one was able to see that we are not strictly a design firm. What Squish focuses on is custom web application development. What is that you ask? Well, Theresia asked the very same question. Funny thing-when she asked me what that is, I was left speechless! I just assumed that everyone today knew what that meant! So, that brought me to the conclusion that I, as well as George and Dru, need to go back to the beginning of when we all started to do this. How can we sell what it is that we do if we can't even explain it! (For others with the same question of what web development is-it is the programming of what you see online. It's not just the creation of the website itself, but how to make it move-it's the creation of the back-end function of the sites you see on the internet.)
Since our meeting, we have been putting together what it is that we want visitors to our site to know. We have also put up our new design, which is still in progress.. but is 100 times better than the old crappy site that we had up. Theresia has also volunteered to write the content for our homepage so that it will be more interesting and attention grabbing than what we can come up with. Thanks Theresia!
